    things to be thankful for

This week has qualified as SUCH a great and wonderful week.  Last Friday night started out a bit rocky, but with the help of some special people named Laura, Julissa, and Demetrios, I cheered up and realized how great my friends are.  Just having someone to call who I can sit there and be an idiot around, means a lot to me.

The next day my sister and Mom flew in from out of town, and although I was working on Guys on Ice, we proceeded to have a really wonderful Christmas week, with lots of eating, relaxing, watching Veronica Mars...  it was really great.  I didn't see much of my friends that week, and in fact was feeling rather anti-social... but it didn't matter, because my family was here.

Yesterday my sister left (Mom had left the day before), and I immeditaly felt depressed and awful about not getting to see my family more often than this.  But I went to work and tried to cheer up, and lo and behold, had a really wonderful day leading into what has so far been a really wonderful birthday today... all because of the great people here who really make me feel loved and cared for.  I'm sure the rest of the night will be a great one, surrounded by friends.

This Christmas/Birthday week, I'm SO thankful for my family... and for the friends here who have become a family to me over the past year and a half.

    Happy New Year!

    Dramatics magazine

So, Dramatics has done three articles on ME at this point... well, now they've done one on Props at Milwaukee Rep.  Jim Guy is seriously an amazing amazing Properties Director, and I was really pleased that he offered me resume help and reference letters.  So, anyway, check out the article!

I don't agree with some of this review.  Oh well, shrug.

    Robert Jordan

Gerry Neugent, one of the actors in A Christmas Carol, recently asked me what's new with our favorite author.  I was sadly unable to fill him in, but luckily Forbes recently ran a little profile on him.  Sigh.

Speaking of whom, he recently said on his blog, "But the more you laugh, the less you’ll grumble, and the better you’ll feel. The better you’ll BE. I mean better in the sense that your doctors will notice. It works. I know. It works."

...which makes me think of Joe Bu, who started chemo yesterday, and yet is STILL calling ACC.  Whenever he comes into work recently and I ask him how's he's doing, he says (with a smile), "I feel great, I feel fine, I feel this way all the time!", which, although silly, makes me laugh.  I like laughing.

    winter's here!

Today I woke up to a winter wonderland.  I got to wear my snow boots to work, and tramp through big piles of snow from the snow plows, and it all really made me quite happy.  It made me feel like I was 8 again, and I wished it would just keep blizzarding, and the plows would just be baffled by the amount of snow, and the most important decisions of the day would involve which hill we should go sledding on.

Apparently it's still blizzard conditions outside, but it looks to have slowed down a great deal since I walked to work.  And the internet's working now, which I enjoy.  Anyway, school is NOT cancelled, and I have to go to rehearsal now.

    But...snow makes me happy.
