Year in Review (kinda)
Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your Year In Review:
January: yeah, but you're not a ninja
February: Found this on Neil Gaiman's blog and it made me laugh...
March: I put together a bunch of quotes that seem to go along well with what I've been feeling recently.
April: I guess it's been awhile since my last update.
May: AOL Journals need cut-tags
June: more pre-graduation pictures; Courtesy of Lori (similar to mine, but good!):
July: I love it when captions are all screwy.
August: Hi all, I'm alive and well and Milwaukee is great so far. September: I realized that under "About Me" I'vew had the wrong number listed as my Apartment phone number for a long time now.
October: Another review for A Flea in Her Ear... methinks this one was written for the UWM paper, so not the most thruilling read ever, but...eh.
November: The most beautiful dog ever passed away early Tuesday morning.
December: After numerous rounds of "We don't even know if Osama is still
alive," Osama himself decided to send George Bush a letter in his
own handwriting to let him know he was still in the game.
That was an interesting representation of my year. I bet it would work better if it was like, the third entry for every month instead of the first one. Or choose ONE (any one) from each month.. Yeah, that'd work better. What a weird year, really. I think I'm gonna go shadow Briana during ACC today, but I don't feel well so I really don't want to. Sueno begins rehearsals on Tuesday!
Oh, I saw Narnia last night. I liked it lots. I think they did a really great job with Aslan. Now, I know we all know that Aslanis Jesus and the White Witch is Satan, but did you know:
-Father Christmas = Galadriel?
-Dude with the White Witch all the time (Ginarrbrik) = hobbit scale double? No, really though.
I'm not sure how I felt about this movie being rated PG. I mean, I guess it's okay for kids to watch, although if *I* were a kid I'd be traumatized. I mean, when they make it so clear that the bad guys are being killed and having their faces bitten off, it seems a little weird that they try and pretend it's okay for kids to see because they don't show blood and their swords stay shiny and clean to the last moment. And of course, I can't help but compare how the movie was done to LOTR, and think that although LOTR is DEFINITELY not suitable for kiddies, it was somehow more okay for me to see innocent little hobbits kill orcs in self-defense than it was for me to see innocent teeangers kill things-that-look-like-orcs in self-defense. Why? Well, LOTR was scarier and therefore the stakes were heightened and I felt that my darling little hobittses needed to kill in order to survive. Perhaps I felt in this case that really Aslan coulda kicked bad-guy butt without them and all good-guy deaths were reversible anyway so perhaps the kiddies shoulda kinda not...killed things. Umm, yeah. Also,
Dear C.S. Lewis,
Teenage boys should not be able to ride unicorns. Do you know nothing?! And wolves aren't so bad; it wasn't very nice of you to give them such a bad rep. Finally, I'm a little disturbed that the kids grew up in Narnia without remembering home or their parents. If Narnia is a good place, why does it erase their memories of people they love? Sigh. I miss Frodo.
Frodo lives.

This was dumb. Oh well. An update:
-Madison with de Guys was awesome. I had a wonderful time.
-Sueno is now in prep. We started today.. I'm not sure how that will be yet, since there's 4 of us on it. And everyone is really good. So will there really be any responsibility for me? We shall see. But all the acting interns are ensemble in it, and I'm SMing the U/S run of the show, so I'll be glad to finally do another show with other interns again. Rehearsal starts Tuesday.
-Saw Pride & Prejudice. Pretty good.
-No new LOST until January. Are you KIDDING me, people?!
-I'm not gonna use Yahoo photos as my online album anymore. I mean, all the old pictures will still be there, but any new ones I take I will post on Flickr.
-Had plenty of the white, I'm dreaming of a Hawaiian Christmas.
-Gotta start looking into jobs again for life after the internship. Here's what I know: I will be home this summer. I might come back to Milwaukee in the Fall. We'll see how things pan out. Until they DO pan out...gotta do a search and submit some resumes.
-I got to meet and hold Kelly's baby. I had never met non-pregnant Kelly before, and I had also never seen the baby NOT inside her belly. It was rather strange to have tangible evidence that there was in fact a baby in Kelly all during Flea. Babies are interesting. They make funny faces when they're hungry, and like looking at lights.
-It's 6 degrees outside.
-Other stuff... I just don't know.

alive," Osama himself decided to send George Bush a letter in his

Bush opened the letter and it appeared to contain a coded message:

Bush was baffled, so he e-mailed it to Condi Rice. Condi and her
aides had no clue either, so they sent it to the FBI. No one could
solve it so it went to the CIA, then to the NSA.
With no clue as to its meaning, they eventually asked Britain's MI-6
for help. MI-6 cabled the White House:
"Tell the president he's holding the message upside down."

short but sweet
Happy Thanksgiving...soon, anyway.
If you've never been to Snopes.com, I recommend that you visit it before forwarding on any more e-mails. Plus, it can be very amusing.
A Christmas Carol is making my life tiring at the moment, but the Rep's production of it is truly good. It brought tears to me eyes, it did.

Harry Potter
Just got back from seeing Goblet of Fire... heavy. The movie is heavy. It earned that PG-13. I really enjoyed it - I'm always a fan of these movies for what they are, which is not a direct screen translation of the books, which would NOT be good, but an adaptation, which CAN be good. The first and second succeeded as nice bits of fluff, the third was GOOD, and this one is as well. I really think these movies only work really well if you incorporate the darkness. (With that said, I'm not particularly looking forward to Order of the Phoenix, which will struggle to be anything BUT dark.) So, anyway, where was I going with this?
My thoughts on the movie: these kids keep getting better, as well as good-looking. Good casting...I mean, who really thought that Daniel Radcliffe would turn out to be a looker when they first saw him at 11 years old? Not I. Dumbledore, good. Cedric, good. Voldemort, good. The beginning of the movie, ON SPEED. I don't recommend seeing this movie if you haven't read the book. What's stopping you at this point? Really? Yule ball, good. End, heavy.
As Orson Scott card says, "Goblet may deserve some weird kind of award for having created the funniest and sexiest scene with a ghost in a bathtub ever made." True that.
So long, and tanks for all de fish
This week has been somewhat uneventful, and yet really not at the same time. So, Guys on Ice closed last night. Pretty good closing week, good audiences and all that; it was kinda funny/bad when one night for some inexplicable reason we got some mic frequency from Andrews Brothers in our speakers. Umm, yeah, that was weird. I'm sad because I really liked the show and de guys, but not as sad as when Flea closed. I know I'll keep in touch with some of these people, it wasn't AS memorable of an experience in general, and for the most part because I'll be going with them to Madison next week. Jimmy mentioned that they'd feel better with someone around on stage management who knew the show and that it would be helpful if I was there, after talking to Whitney and figuring out a few things (place to stay, transportation, etc.) I figured this'll be really fun and good. So, next week I'll be in Madison from Sunday night through their first preview on Wednesday night.
This week, I had made plans with Whitney to do some departmental stuff since prep for Sueno, my next show, doesn't start until December 6th. But that plan kinda died when Whitney found out she needed to go home for a funeral, sooooooo now I'm going to be helpfing A Christmas Carol out with their last two days of tech this week. It's gonna be CRAZY. ACC has a crazy reputation in general - it's such a huge production that has been going on for so long, takes place in the Pabst rather than one of the Rep's three theaters, etc. So, Amanda, who was already on the show, will fill in for Whitney backstage, and I'll fill in for Amanda sitting next to Joe (the SM) and helping him with whatever he needs, collecting valuables, keeping track of breaks, etc.
Today I think I'm FINALLY going to see Harry Potter atGoF. It's about time! Speaking of dorky fantasy things, I would like to point out that my two favorite authors who write my two favorite fantasy series who both came out with new books this month have both been NYTimes #1 Bestsellers in the past few weeks. Dorks unite.

let's discuss
A few things:
1) Further proof that people in Europe are wierd ;) http://movies.collegehumor.com/items/2005/10/collegehumor.1618980.mpg
2) Andrews Brothers opened last night. Hence, I am done with it.
C) Guys on Ice closes on Sunday. tears.
4) A Feast for Crows, George R.R. Martin's latest, finally came out. I must go read it now.
5) Are you in love with me? Let's discuss. Just say yes and make my ego happy, 'kay?
F)
You scored as Simon, the Doctor. Simon Tam, a former well-to-do young surgeon and bachelor extraordinaire. You gave up everything to help your sister, which I respect. However, you are also pompous and talk too much, which I also respect.Boo.

:( Rest in Peace Stacey
The most beautiful dog ever passed away early Tuesday morning. Mom called me at work to let me know, and unfortunately I was in a show so then I was sitting there crying backstage. It was probably just her time to go, but gosh, I was sad. Stacey is the one pet who I am able to say at this point in my life was a part of my family for the MAJORITY of my life thus far. And she really was a family member. She kept us company in the house or outdoors, was always happy to see me come home, especially when she hadn't seen me for awhile because I was away at school. She always made me feel better when I was sad, and she was just "such a nice doggie," as Mom always said. I didn't get to say bye to her when I left for Milwaukee because we were running so late and I wanted to get on the road (Mom had offered to stop at the kennel before we got on the highway when she realized how upset I was that she had brought her to the kennel before I woke up that morning), but I spent LOTS of time with her this summer when I was all alone in the house. I'm sure this is slightly melodramatic for people who don't have pets or don't really connect with their pets - but this is like losing a family member to me, and I just can't picture our home without her. I know she was great company for Mom all alone in that big house all by herself, and I hope it truly doesn't feel as empty as I think it will. I hope Stacey knows how much she was loved and how much she meant to us and what a truly wonderful companion she was. And I hope her heaven is snowy with a nice deck to lay on, plenty of people to play with, a park to take nice walks in, a comfy car seat for car rides, and plenty of string cheese, egg yolks, and walnuts in the corners of rooms.
That last part made sense to me, so just go with it.
I have a cat. Her name is Moth. She's calico, sweet and cuddly, and extremely rambunctious at night.

This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life.
Thank you, Amy.
Back in performances, this time for Guys on Ice. I loooooove it! Also, in rehearsals for Andrews Brothers. Life is busybusybusy. But I'm doing well, bought some new boots that I love and can't wait to wear, and I finally finished the Robert Jordan book, which was awesome.
That's really all I got at the moment. See you on de ice.
Only not really.

stole the general idea here from a friend of a friend's away message
If your name is not Josh Holloway, and you don't play Sawyer on Lost, just send me an e-mail to say hi, because I'm busy prepping for the first week of tech and rehearsals for my next two shows.
If, however, you ARE Josh Holloway and are ready to fly me to Hawaii to be your mistress, feel free to dial my number.

i would swallow my doubt, turn it inside out
I am so famous. I just kinda stumbled across that and thought I'd share.
Prep week went well; now I'm looking forward to the day off on Monday. I kinda have tomorrow night off as well, but I'm baby-sitting Deb Staples' daughter, Mira, so I'm still working... Any addition to my stipend will be nice though.
Don't really have much to say, otherwise. I loves me my food stamps, as well as Knife of Dreams. Good book so far.
Some good quotes this week:
Mike: I had the beer and cheese soup..
Me: Beer and cheese soup? That's like... Wisconsin in a bowl.
~~~
Mike: I got lots of food and it was all paid for by my friend WISCONSIN.
~~~
Me: I'll do buses, I'll do cars, I'll do anything that moves.

no shows
Becca in prep week means I've had my nights off this week. This is WEIRD...hasn't happened since early August. And after this week it will happen again in late November, which I find impressive! Yesterday I actually got to watch Lost LIVE. And I've been able to actually read the latest Robert Jordan book a bit each night! Things are nice and I'm enjoying fall.
With that said, I miss Flea. I miss the comfort of running such an enjoyable show; knowing what will happen next, what I need to do next, who I will see every night, etc. Today I saw Glenn, one of the IA guys for the Powerhouse, who I haven't seen since Sunday, and I was just sooo happy to see him. Sigh.

"That's just like life, isn't it?" - Baptistan, A Flea in Her Ear
A Flea in Her Ear has closed. I'm sad. I haven't been so sad about a show closing since Annie Get Your Gun... The rest of the run was interesting. One of the resident actors slipped on the Act II stairs on Saturday night's performance and tore a tendon in his knee. His Understudy had to go on 10 minutes later, and our closing performance today was done by his understudy. Chris did a great job with it, everyone handled things very well, and it was a learning experience! Peter seems to be doing fine, too, so all in all, not a bad closing.
And I have plenty of things to work on in the coming weeks, so I won't be bored at ALL; the opposite in fact. But I'm going to miss this show. During the scene shift today, it registered that that would be the last time I'd get in my costume and feather dust the chairs and run that damn curtain across the stage and move the escape stairs. Last hand-off of the champagne bottle, last intermission shift with Sam and Glenn, last baguette piece to be eaten. I'll miss the crew, who I will see again during Sueno but not actually ever run a show with again. I'll miss Kelly and Briana, the WONDERFUL SM and ASM. Briana of course will be in the office every day with me, but I don't think we're working any more shows together. And Kelly will go away and have her baby. I won't work with any of these actors again until Sueno either, and some of them it'll be longer, and some of them already left Milwaukee for good.
This was a great first out-of-college experience. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, got thrown right into the thick of things (where I love to be), and I'll miss this show! Next up: a week of prep for Andrews Brothers and Guys on Ice, then the following week GOI goes into tech and Andrews Brothers starts rehearsals. Sigh.

Green
You have green eyes. Green is the color of balance. Your eyes symbolize your ever need to learn. Green brings peace and harmony into our lives, as you may be a very optimistic person. At times you may be placid, lethargic, lazy, and slow, to the point of becoming moody and depressed. You may also be apathetic and have a fear rejection. Do not feel bad though, for what you may lack, you can in your ability to heal and bring hope to people. Some words to describe you: growth, fertility, harmony, healing, refreshing, peaceful, contentment, satisfaction, confidence, prosperous, hopeful, lucky, and beautiful.

more Flea stuff
Another review for A Flea in Her Ear... methinks this one was written for the UWM paper, so not the most thruilling read ever, but...eh.
Only a week to go. Wow.
I'm gonna miss the show, being in the Powerhouse (I won't be back in that theatre until the very end of the season), and of course the non-Resident actors who I won't be seeing again.. :(
Oh. The John McGivern Late Night show went well. I got compliments on my performance report from the higher-ups, and I get paid extra for doing it, so these things make me happy.

it's so much easier posting e-mails here than FWDing them
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"
His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.
Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

Life
So, on Friday night I'm Stage Managing a special event in the Stiemke Theatre, part of a late night comedy series that's going on at the Rep through December. I SM the first and third ones, then Melissa does the second and fourth ones. There may be some in the second half of the season, too, but we won't find that out til later. And, we get paid a little extra to do it! Yay... It should be fairly stress-free, because it's going to a very simple thing with a general wash of light and 2 or 3 sound cues. Definitely not a biggie, but it'll be on the fly since this is not the kind of thing you rehearse for. The only part that makes me a teeny stressed is that I haven't yet worked in the Stimeke (only the Powerhouse), so I'm not too well acquainted with it, and we all know that every individual theatre has its own special little quirks.
Also looming on the horizon... Flea will close in two weeks, and then I go straight into Guys on Ice tech. I'm basically the ASM on the show, but it's a returning/traveling show which is up performing in Door County right now, so there are no rehearsals here until tech, nor will I meet the SM until then. So I need to do all the prep week stuff for that (pre-show checklists, callboard info, shift plot, etc.) before tech just based on the info they have from doing it here last year. Should be interesting!
Meanwhile, as soon as Guys on Ice goes into tech, prep week for my next show, Andrews Brothers begins. I'm ASMing that. Now, Andrews Brothers is in the Cabaret and therefore by definition should not be a big show, but this director apparently is big on props, so because I'll be in tech for Guys while I should be doing fun things like preparing a prop plot for Andrews Brothers, I basically need to do all this in the next week and a half before Flea closes. Once Guys on Ice opens I'll be running it (there for all performances) and whenever I'm not at a Guys performance I'll be in rehearsals for Andrews Brothers, and trying to keep a handle on all the things that (in the real world) an ASM needs to keep a handle on.
Life is about to get crazy again.

wrong on so many levels!
Take the quiz: "Which LOST character are you?"
Charlie
You are Charlie You are an ex-rocker trying to kick a drug habit. While on the island you have met a very nice girl Claire.
Okay. Maybe not "so many" levels. But a few.
Claire
You scored 53% kindness, 23% courage, 21% seedy past, and 15% secretiveness!
"Don't talk to me about the baby. I'm sick of everyone telling me what to do."
You are Claire. You are a very kind and caring person. You're not the bravest on the island, but you will stand up for yourself when the need arises. Compared to the other survivors, you have a pretty clean past and you're open and honest about most things. It's a good thing, too - Turniphead needs you to be nurturing and caring in order for him to grow up and NOT become the antichrist. Luckily, Charlie seems more than happy to assist you.
Good to know I have a crush on myself.

my internet is working!
...It hasn't been the past few days. So while I'm able to get online, let me say several things.
Lost. Tonight. Watch it!
If I haven't been in touch recently, I really do plan to be soon.
My shower has an annoying habit of dousing me with cold water before I turn it off. This makes me sad. And cold.
TVs in bedrooms really ARE a bad idea.

wrong phone number
I realized that under "About Me" I'vew had the wrong number listed as my Apartment phone number for a long time now. I have remedied the situation.
Life is good. A Flea in Her Ear is now open, we finished up the Understudy Run of it, and now I just have performances of the show to deal with until October. Then I go into rehearsals for Guys on Ice. That'll be good times.
One of the great things about work is that the Cabaret is now open. It's one of the theatres of The Rep, but it also has a bar, so after shows we can simply walk next door and have a few drinks in the privacy of our own work-place. :)
So... here's a cool Harry Potter preview.
Shoot me an e-mail. Let me know what's new and exciting.

Ethics Test
This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Try giving an honest answer. You will discover where you stand morally.
The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.
Please scroll down slowly and consider each line.
You are in Miami.
There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions.
You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper. You're caught in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to make a career out of shooting photos.
There are houses and people swirling around you. Some are even disappearing under the water. Nature is showing all of its destructive fury.
You see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away with the debris. You move closer, somehow the man looks familiar. Suddenly you know who it is . . It's George W. Bush!
At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under, forever.
You have two options: You can save his life or you can take the most dramatic photos of your life.
So, you can save the life of George W. Bush or you can shoot a Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men.
Here's the question and please give an honest answer:
Would you select color film or would you rather go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

Milwaukee!
Hi all,
I'm alive and well and Milwaukee is great so far. It's very pretty, with the lake and river and whatnot, and the theatre itself is pretttttty amazing. All the other interns and people I've met so far are extremely nice and cool, and the place I'm staying is really nice as well. It's a bit like being a freshman again with meeting all the new people and getting used to all the new places, and especially since all the interns are living in the same apartment/hotel building, so I can go downstairs or down the hall and see other interns any time day or night. I'll send out a mass e-mail in a few days with all the good how-to-reach-me info, but in the meantime you can always do the whole cell phone thang. Hmm, what else? Well, I started "work" yesterday, although so far it has mostly consisted or orientation-type stuff with the other interns. The other SM intern, Melissa, and I have also started working specifically with our department to prepare for the season's shows (16 in total!). I'm working on 6 of those 16 throughout my stay here, the first one being the first show of the season, A Flea in her Ear. So I've started attending mini-production meetings for that show, and have been doing general prepare-for-the-first-day-of-rehearsal stuff (rehearsals starts Monday). Until Labor Day I have Sundays off, then after that it's every Monday that I have off. I hope to lose a few pounds with all the walking I've been doing, which will continue through my stay here since the car is backin PA with Mom! But it seems like anything I need is in walking distance anyway. And the money situation seems okay so far, since I made so much more money than usual this summer, and it seems like the theatre people try to feed us poor interns as often as possible. Yay for that! And, APPARENTLY, we can get food stamps. No, really. We interns are poor enough that we can get FOOD STAMPS. How crazy is that? I'm proud of that fact rather than embarrassed by it ;) Anyway, my internet now works, so say hi to my away message, await my e-mail, leave me voice messages, and I'll tty soon!

Also, I often visit Snopes.com to find out if an e-mai lforward I've gotten is true or not (it has listings of urban legends and whatnot). So, anyway, I was at the site and was amused by this list of questions they had no answers for.

LOL
http://www.winterson.com.nyud.net:8090/2005/06/episode-iii-backstroke-of-west.html I love it when captions are all screwy. I didn't cry at this like I did at the bad FOTR captions way back when (where can I find those again?), but still, I laughed so hard it hurt a little. My favorite: Jedi Knight = Presbyterian Church.
I'm too lazy to do a real update. Suffice it to say, my job is exhausting, I work overtime constantly, and I leave for Milwaukee in two weeks as of tomorrow. Whoa.

Well done! The higher your scores, the more "pure" you are. The lower, the more you've experienced.
This test was about done deeds, so your numbers will never climb. [It's interesting to think they all started at 100%.] But will your purity continue to fall? Will you OUTGROW or will you OUTDO your past experiences? It's up to you.
Advisory:
- Don't date anyone if your moral purities differ by more than 30%.
- Don't run a business with anyone if your substance purities differ by more than 40%.
- Do be friends with someone who has less than 1/2 your sex purity. You'll enjoy their colorful company.
Note: as for the "TOTAL" purity value - that's a weighted combination of your scores, indicating what a typical purity test might say about you.

Yeah, so I'm interning with Milwaukee Rep for it's 05-06 season (August - May). Should be a good time. More details when I know them. So, that's exciting... :)
The MTA Formal (Friday night) was lots of fun, so now I'm looking forward to Senior Ball! I don't have any of my pics online yet, but Lauren Shetler has one of Jason and I up on her pics page.
Saw a lot of acapella final concerts this weekend, and got a little work done.

-Latin final on Wednesday
-Philosophy final on Thursday
-Film final on Thursday
-Comment on Pop fiction stories on Livejournal by Friday

I find this rather important: click
I talked to another woman at Milwaukee Rep today...she called and said that the first woman I had talked to had spoken highly of me, so she just wnted to have a little chat and answer any questions I had. So that excited me... I think that despite the VERY small stipend, it would be a smart job to take if it was offered to me... The housing they would put me in is a Plaza Hotel, a little convenience apartment to myself with my own bathroom and kitchenette...that sounds nice... And they are an Equity company, so I could get my EMC points and plenty of experience with Equity stuff... She said I'll hear in about a week and a half, so I'm looking forward to hearing something!

Graduation is looming on the horizon
I guess it's been awhile since my last update. So, let's see. I went and did forensics one more time to make some money, and while I was there, my mom called to tell me that she was on her way to Alaska because my cousin Fisher had killed himself the previous day. I really wanted to be able to go visit Aunt Michelle with mom and Beth, but couldn't get away from forensics, couldn't miss classes, really, and couldn't find any plane tickets below $1000. So, that was very sad and upsetting. I thought about Heaven a lot and I just hope that
a) death is not complete blankness, for eternity, which I won't even know is blankness because I just won't have consciousness anymore
b) that you can look back at those who are still alive and watch their lives happen when you want to
And I hope Fisher is happy, wherever he is, and feels how much he was loved.
Gandalf: Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all changes to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What, Gandalf? See what?
Gandalf: White shores... And beyond, the far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: No... No it isn't.
Okay, sorry for the deepness...
In other news, I've been sending out the job applications and the interviews are trickling in. I have one tomorrow for Milwaukee Rep, which Charlie recommended to me, so hopefully it goes well! Then on Monday, I'm going to the NJ Theatre Alliance Design Showcase, where I'll set up a little stage management display for myself and out my AGYG production book out, and then the 30 or so theatres who attend will all come around and interview me. Wish me luck!
Last weekend was Honors Convocation, at which I recieved the Dorothy and Dexter Baker Foundation Award in the Performing Arts. They give one to a music student, one to a dance student, and one to a theatre student. I was really surprised and pleased to get it because I don't think these awards, since there's really only one to give in the whole theatre department, normally go to stage managers. In fact, I'm sure they always go to actors or directors. So it was extremely nice both just because and because included in the award was $300. Then, what made it even nicer was that when I ran into Charlie two days later he came over on the front lawn (I was tanning in the beautiful sunlight) and congratulated me, and said he was sorry that he couldn't be there, and then said that it was a unanimous decision among the faculty members that the award should go to me. I really don't mean to toot my own horn, but it was extremely nice.
Less than 40 days left til graduation ,and I've got lots of stuff coming -23 days, MTA Formal, the Accapella final concerts, all the fun of senior week, those interviews I mentioned earlier... and of course finals. Don't my teachers realize that I'm a senior and it's not cool to assign me work?
This weekend should be fairly chill. Go see Francine (my Film Acting teacher) in The Interpreter!

last trip home before graduation, check
So, Easter break/weekend was pretty short... I did a little shopping, which gave me a bad headache, of course. I just couldn't find what I wanted, and I needed to get shoes for the Ball, and apparently unbeknownst to me they have decided that silver shoes are no longer necessary. They go with everything, come on people! I also bought a new skirt outfit, since I got an invitation to the Honors Convocation and don't really have anything to wear. I'm sure I'll wear it during Senior week as well. Rented a few movies this weekend:
Being Julia - I can see why she won the Golden Globe. The story didn't excite me too much, though.
Ladykillers - funny enough to rent
The Five People You Meet in Heaven - makes a pretty slow movie. It jerked some tears, and was touching, but I hope I don't have to go through all that if I get to Heaven!
Jason and I went out for dinner on Saturday night to Bertucci's, b/c I had a coupon. I had never been there before; it was okay. Nothing special as far as Italian places go, but I guess I should try their pizza, which is really what they're known for, before I pass judgement. Yesterday mom and I visited Grandma in Lancaster... that was nice. I'm getting to the point where I actually enjoy playing Scrabble. I came in second, with grandma kicking our butts as always. She really knows all the tricks to that game.
So, today I'm gonna eat dinner before heading back to school. I think we're having kabassi (sp?). I still need to pack, and do my tax business, and I guess do a little more Latin homework.. I guess I better get started with all that stuff and stop procrastinating!
Things make me happy right now though. :)

In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know
we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

You scored 52 Mass, 29 Electronegativity, 62 Metal, and 20 Radioactivity! I like to think of you as the miracle worker in The Princess Bride... you can do anything and you do it for the betterment of society. Just because you can raise the dead and make flying wagons and stuff doesn't mean that you show off about it though. You are capable of forming bizarre webs of relationships in which individuals are accomplices, lovers, coworkers, and so on all at once. I once saw you hanging out at the center of a cycloheptatriene... it was completely freakish and bizarre, and I'm not sure I've known what to think of you since. But hey, to each their own. Oh, and stay away from the carbon monoxide... you suck that stuff up.

and so it is
I tried to post this last night but my computer was uncooperative, so I'll try again but I don't remember what I said so I'll just write different stuff I guess.
Spring Break, pt. 3, consisted of The Sea Inside, Tootsie, more food of course, applying for some jobs.
Then I wrote a bunch of stuff here, then I deleted it because I decided I didn't want to post it because it's angry and sad. Mostly angry.
Lots of work this week, choir concert this weekend, can't wait for Easter to come around so I can just go home again.

home sweet home pt. 2
I had a lot of memorable dreams last night and they were all pretty depressing. They made me wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning (afternoon) I guess you would say. It took a while to get out of that funk. I'm out of it now, of course, but I hope I stay out of it after another session of dreaming tonight...
The week at home was nice and relaxing, if uneventful. As predicted. Activities included: finding a dress for the Senior Ball, and an interview outfit (matches my new shoes!), seeing Shannon and Jen, finishing my book (Young Miles), eating out quite a bit, etc. I did NOT do as much homework as I had planned to, surprise surprise. As always, watched a lot of movies:
-Two Brothers: yeah, I'm a dork, but tigers are cute when they're babies. Not as great of a story as it could have been...
-Their Eyes Were Watching God: I liked it.
-The Wedding Date: B.
-Hitch: Not as bad as the previews implied to me that it would be. The whole allergy section was a little unnecessary, and the script was BAD at times. But, not awful.
-Stage Beauty: Claire Danes will always be Juliet to me. A lot of random actors in that movie that I recognized but couldn't place..
-Shall We Dance?: Mom made me. Again, not as bad as I thought it would be. Actually rather cute.
Okay, so I feel like that's a pitiful selection of movies, but Hotel Rwanda never plays except at 10 pm, Being Julia left theatres, we tried to see The Sea Inside tonight but they canceled the showing, and sometimes I must go see the romantic comedies!
Last night I tried to Google a bunch of people from h.s. who I wonder what they're up to (the people NOT on Facebook, that is), but no luck. Are you out there?
I just finished a book on writing screenplays for my Film class, and the repetitiveness of this book really annoyed me. The fact that the author put the points he likes to emphasize in italics the first time was enough....he did not need to do so every five pages!
My senior ball dress is beeeeeeeeeeeayyyyooooooootiful. I will be a princess.

home sweet home
Ahh, the excitement of spring break in Holland! Holland, Pennsylvania...
It's been very nice, though, of course. Not many friends are home, so this weekend I just spent time with mom. That changes tomorrow though, with the standard trip to Olive Garden with Jen (and possibly a movie afterwards?) I mentally went on spring break starting last Tuesday, I'd say. That day my Latin class was cancelled due to the snow, so I had no classes all day. I went to Choir though. Wednesday was a pretty normal day, but I handed in two papers, thus ending the workload I had before break. Also, our theatre department trip to NY was that night. We saw House/Lights, by the Wooster group, which was very interesting - I won't pretend it didn't go flying right over my head though! Thursday Latin was my only class as usual, but I skipped Choir, then went to watch The Notebook with Jen, Lori, and Liz. As Jen says, it wasn't so much a tear-jerker as a tear-STREAMER. They just kept streaming. I though they were crazy to want to watch that movie and that it would be too emotional for all of us, but it was a good movie to watch I guess. I didn't feel like going out for drinks too much afterwards, but we did; went to PJ's, which I've never been to before.
Friday I left for home around 1, got home at 2:30 and caught up on TIME magazines and sleep til mom got home. Then we had dinner and rented I Heart Huckabees, which I found very amusing. It's one of those randomly humorous movies, like one of Wes Anderson's movies, which not everyone finds as amusing as I do. I don't know why it reminded me so much of one of his movies.
Saturday included DSW (two new pairs of shoes), Red Lobster, Willow Grove mall, and The Aviator. Leo DiCaprio was fabulous imho. I wonder when he'll ever get to outlive Titanic.
Today, slept in and then finally went to see Million Dollar Baby. Morgan Freeman is outstanding. I didn't cry as much as I would think I would, but I think that's because I'd heard so much about the ending before seeing the movie. It's a shame. I definitely think it deserved the Oscar, though I'm not a big fan of the whole shooting in really dark/blue tones. Don't know what the technical word for that would be... And tonight we're having duck for dinner. Yay! :)
So, home has been nice and relaxing thus far and thank goodness we finally get a break! It's about time.
A word to the wise: don't try to get into Red Lobster on a Saturday night unless you're willing to wait an hour+.

personal post
I put together a bunch of quotes that seem to go along well with what I've been feeling recently. They take up a bit of space, though, and not everyone would want to read them, so I decided to actually post them elsewhere. I'd say don't click the link unless you can deal with me being self-indulgent and sad... otherwise this will just make you uncomfortable and/or annoyed. Or maybe you just don't feel like readin 'em. That's understandable..
Consider yourself warned..

do you have the Oscar blues?
Courtesy of TORn, here are some things to do during the Oscars to enjoy them as much as you did in previous years :
- Dress in your most expensive dress or suit, head out your front door and wait by your front porch for several hours. Complain about the massive lineups to anyone who walks by.
- Grab your copy of Emerald Rose, World Without Sundays...and why not, some Led Zeppelin and put them on rotation in your CD player. As the songs change you can pretend you are walking through various venues at the Oscar Party, pretend to clap for the bands. Hooting and hollering are also acceptable.
- Order in some roasted chicken, veggies, pasta and desserts, place them on a large table decorated with flowers and sprinkles. Walk out of the room and walk back in and say 'wow! what a feast!'. Proceed to eat the food.
- Turn all your TV's on to the Oscar telecast, blast them really really loud in every room. If the neighbors complain, ignore what they say and reply with witty party conversation.
- Hoot and holler when any LOTR related person is caught on camera, this may be difficult since no LOTR movies are in contention. You can also glue photos of Orlando and Elijah to flash cards and occasionally take a look at them and holler.
- Pretend that every category has LOTR in it, no matter who wins pretend they won for LOTR, this may lead to exhaustion since there are many winners. Keep water handy.
- After the show is over line up your LOTR action figures on a shelf in a room, walk about 20ft away and crab your camera, try snapping photos of the 'actors' on 'stage'. Complain to no one in particular that you wish you were closer.
- Stand in front of the mirror and take photos of yourself, if you have someone with you, you can take photos of eachother. On the computer insert images of the stars and print them out, tell your friends.
I have confidence that there small activities will capture that magic from years past!

figures
You are a cozy, fuzzy, warm-hearted person. A lot of your friends describe you as a hopeless romantic. You fall for the opposite sex very easily. But be careful, because usually you don't know what you are getting into, and because you are very sensitive, you can get hurt... especially in early relationships. Also, don't exclude the cold-hearted from your "want-list", because they just might be looking for a kind person to warm up their heart.... or a sock to warm up their feet.
Most compatible with: Toilet Paper.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the
"Peanuts" comic strip.
You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read it straight through, and you'll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.
Easier?
The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the

"The jungle is dark but full of diamonds..." - Arthur Miller (1915 - 2005)
I had this whole long entry typed up about this semester so far and then it got last. I'm angry, rarr. And I'm sure you are, too, but here is something to make you feel better: click me
Also, I updated my senior year pix over at Yahoo!. So ckeck 'em out.
And also also, I took a Star Wars quiz, and I was Princess Leia, and there was a nice picture of her from ESB with my fav. hairdo, but alas it is gone in addition to my entry.
Which Sandman Character Are You?
In honor of that quiz result, here's some of my fav. quotes by Delirium:
You know the best thing about airplanes? Apart from the peanuts in the little silver bags, I mean. It's looking out of the windows at the clouds, and thinking, maybe I could go walking in there. Maybe it's a special place where everything's okay.
I like the way colors taste. Except I don't like crimsons...or turquoises...especially when they put their heads into their shells and won't play and when you break their shells to let them out they die...
I think you're very nice. I think twinkle's a nice word. So's viridian. I met a lady once who had an imaginary fish.

Some in black tie; others, body bags by Susan Lenfestey
As the families of bomb-flattened Fallujah huddle in make-shift refugee
camps, drinking from sewage-filled streams, Iraqi policy mastermind Paul
Wolfowitz fastens the last stud into his starched collar.
As the Iraq Survey Group ends its search for WMD, concluding that there
was
no imminent mushroom cloud or even a smoking gun, Condi Rice draws
herself a
hot bath.
As Sgt. Kevin Benderman, an Army mechanic with nine years of service,
refuses a second deployment to Iraq, saying, "You just don't know how
bad it
is," Colin Powell pours himself a drink.
As Specialist Charles A. Graner, miscreant and major-domo of Abu Ghraib,
shuffles off to prison, Donald Rumsfeld straightens the black tie of his
tux.
As the 9/11 widow tucks her children into bed, wondering why the
recommendations made in "The 9/11 Commission Report" weren't
implemented,
Tom Ridge tightens his cummerbund.
As prisoners charged with no crimes, and given no recourse, languish in
the
hellhole of Guantanamo Bay, torture apologist Alberto Gonzales clicks
his
cufflinks into place.
As Dan Rather retires in disgrace over forged documents, former CIA
Director
George Tenet, proponent of forged documents about Iraq's nonexistent
nuclear
program, adjusts the Medal of Freedom around his neck.
As the working mother in Chicago wonders how to keep her child from
being
left behind now that her special-ed program has been cut, Armstrong
Williams
polishes his shoes.
As Valerie Plame walks away from a distinguished career as a CIA
"operative," destroyed when her identity was revealed by columnist
Robert
Novak, Mr. Novak walks to his limo.
As Osama bin Laden chuckles in his cave to see America's fortunes sink
in
the morass of Iraq and as fresh recruits to his cause multiply like
flies,
Dick Cheney pops the cork on a bottle of Dom Perignon.
As America's trade gap surges and the red ink in the national debt
bleeds to
a record level, Treasury Secretary Paul Snow finishes shaving and dabs
at a
spot of blood on his chin.
As the Republican Congress gets ready to underfund everything from Head
Start to veterans' benefits, Speaker Dennis Hastert checks his profile
in
the mirror.
As Pfc. Francis Obaji, oldest son of an immigrant Nigerian family, is
zipped
into a body bag for the sad journey home, Laura Bush zips up her Oscar
de la
Renta gown.
And as his corporate pals slide their millions across the table to dance
at
his ball, forgetting for a moment the bottom line that forces them to
ship
jobs overseas, George W. Bush pulls on his snakeskin boots.
